Fishers, Indiana

Fishers is a growing community with a strong history of family values and successful businesses. Located in Southeastern Hamilton County, Fishers has 3 exits off of I-69 just 15 miles northeast of Indianapolis. The transportation routes of I-465 and I-69 make Fishers a very convenient place to live and do business. The Metropolitan Airport is located in the area and you can reach the Indianapolis International Airport in 30 minutes. Cincinnati, Louisville, and Chicago are all within 180 miles of Fishers, again, easily accessible by interstate roadways.

Fishers has a rich history dating back to June of 1872 when Salathiel Fisher divided his land into town lots. The area was formerly known as Fishers Station and originally as Fishers Switch. New communities in this time period would spring up along railroads and Fishers was no exception, hence the early reference to a train station or switch. The Fishers Train Station, located in the heart of town, is home of the Fishers Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Fishers is served by a Town Council form of government with a Town Manager. Elected officials include the Clerk-Treasurer and a seven (7) member Town Council. The Town of Fishers Municipal Complex is the site of the town hall, Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, library, post office, fire department, and police department.

The housing market has something for everyone with a range of prices from $100,000 to $1,000,0000 and pleasant surroundings.

Fishers residents are pleased with the high quality of academic education offered by the Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Of the corporation's eight elementary, two intermediate, two junior high and senior high schools, nine buildings hold a Four Star rating issued by the Indiana Department of Education. Both the Junior and Senior High Schools are members of the prestigious North Central Association of College and Secondary Schools. The school district has also achieved significant successes in sports, music, arts, and other extracurricular activities.

Fishers has recreation and leisure opportunities abound with seven parks, walking paths, several golf courses, community pools, a new state of the art YMCA, and a youth sports organization. Nearby Geist and Morse Reservoirs provide convenient access to water recreation.

Community Hospital North, Riverview Hospital, and St. Vincent Hospital-Carmel service the Fishers area. Complementing the hospitals is a wide range of health care professionals and medical complexes that have chosen to locate in the community
